Cross contact is when a gluten-free food comes into contact with or is exposed to a gluten-containing food. When this happens, the food is no longer safe for someone with Celiac Disease.
WHERE IS CROSS CONTACT LIKELY TO HAPPEN?
- During production and processing (gluten free products share equipment lines with gluten-containing products)
- In a restaurant (that isn’t dedicated gluten free)
- In your own kitchen (or in a friends!)
