MEET CELIAC CHEF JENNY CHING

MY STORY

As a culinary instructor (& fellow celiac), I am here to help you gain confidence in the kitchen as you transition to a gluten free lifestyle.

I became a culinary teacher long before I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and I know that my transition to eating 100% gluten free life was easier because I was already comfortable in the kitchen.

My passion is to help YOU have an easy transition to a gluten free life. I do this by teaching people how to cook celiac-safe gluten free foods and empower people to feel confident in the kitchen.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO LEARN HOW TO COOK?

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition that is triggered by the consumption of gluten. Currently, the only treatment for Celiac Disease is following a strict gluten-free diet.

Learning to cook celiac-safe meals requires more than just using gluten-free ingredients. During each class, I also incorporate kitchen safety tips, gluten free product recommendations, and time-saving cooking techniques. I am dedicated to empowering people to feel confident in the kitchen.

THE STORY BEHIND LAULIMA KITCHEN

“Laulima” (pronounced lah-oo-lee-mah) roughly translates from Hawaiian to mean “many hands working together.” I chose the name for two main reasons:

  1. Many of the best resources and support for celiacs are created by other people in the celiac community
  2. It takes the support of many (both family and friends) to keep people with celiac disease safe

Celiac Disease doesn’t just impact the person who is diagnosed, but the people around them as well.

In every public cooking class, I invite participants to bring a family member or friend FOR FREE. Why? Because the more people that can learn to cook celiac-safe foods, the better off all people with celiac disease will be.
